Alejandra Betancur – Colombia Women’s Rugby Sevens Team

Aleandra BetancurAlejandra Betancur, the captain of the Colombian Women’s National Rugby Sevens team, noted the preparation for 2016 began in 2012 when Colombia placed second in the South American Championships. Betancur is one of 9 of the team who play club rugby in Medellin.
“I hope it signals the start of a great era for women’s rugby in South America. We have played sevens in Colombia for more than 10 years and I hope we will soon be able to compete for a place in Women’s Rugby World Cup. In our region there is a huge talent reservoir and I want to continue working to develop this,” Betancur told WorldRugby.org recently.
